the air today is fragrant with the aftermath of rain and the spring blooms, holding on for a few more weeks. it’s like sitting on the dock of the summerhouse in brekkestø, norway. this is what it feels like when you take the cool air into your lungs, except, instead of sirens and traffic helicopters that compete with the wind, it’s the sound of waves against the rocks, an occasional fishing boat on the other side of the island, and, once a day, the three o’clock arrival from copenhagen, passing low overheard on its way to kjevik airport.
