jonathan harris at @creativemorning (@NewYork_CM). as a public persona, he appears as a younger american generation’s restless vessel for feelings, adventure, emotion, integrity - the journeys offered as well as taken; where self-reflection is very much engaged in the quixotic struggle for supremacy over self-promotion. there are interesting parallels between his projects and @uberblond’s current cross-country initiative. @jjhnumber27 #creativemornings (Taken with Instagram at Galapagos Art Space)

cynicism aside, there were many things to like about simon sinek’s talk this morning (@simonsinek at #creativemornings) but my response is hedged on a number of assumptions about the intent of the presentation. yes, we all benefit if we live our lives in a more thoughtful manner in which we empower ourselves to do more good, through tiny acts of generosity as well as great deeds. but to what end? no matter how much we want it to be otherwise, the answer is never simple. all good deeds can be reduced to self-serving acts. it doesn’t make it bad, but it does raise questions about whose interests are we serving. the collective interest or our own?
