a catalog of products for the near future is slowly but very surely emerging from that trip to detroit. much of the heavy lifting is coming from the likes of julian bleecker, nick foster, nicolas nova, emmet byrne, and many others, but all of us are tossing together some extra designs over these next few weeks. we’re creating content for a product catalog that, when it’s finished, will look and feel more like a sky mall catalog for the near future, with a bit of tongue in cheek, though not always. thought-provoking is the goal, hashing out products for a future that’s just ten to twenty years down the road. so, now we’re creating a bit of filler for the back pages… i will post a few of my silly sketches and ideas that are being bandied about (before i resume the task of making films for the project). here is one such sketch, a mock-up print ad for the drönbrella, and here’s the copy: we all know how annoying it is to be caught out in the rain! with drönbrella, those days are over! the next time it rains, simply summon this uniquely designed unmanned aerial vehicle with its expandable umbrella fabric to keep you dry and comfortable! swedish design, german engineering with just the right amount of boeing technology from america! electrically rechargable, available for home-based daily use as well as a long lasting travel-lite version. #tobedesigned
